By Louis
This book is packed with beautiful photos of the huge and exciting megapolis (a conurbation of cities) that is the capital of Japan, Tokyo. The book is split into sections of the megapolis for example, Shinjuku (business area), Shibuya (party area), Harajuku (trendy teenager area) and shows Tokyoites going about their daily routines albeit going to work or relaxing at a bar or in a park in this megapolis of quaint, narrow and ruralesque streets and alleys with surprises around every corner. Text accompanies the pictures to inform the reader about the history of the area and what role it plays in the Tokyo of today and with very interesting facts, for example that there are more people in Tokyo than in state of California or the whole of Canada and that it only took less than fifty years for Shibuya to be classed as a village, to a town and then to city status. These pictures really do capture the uniqueness of Tokyo (and of Japan), a constantly changing but fascinating megapolis. This book is a must for those planning a trip to Tokyo or for those, like me, who have already been and want to be reminded of the truly amazing moments from this far and inviting capital. Excellent book.
